ProAct Redistributing Discount Cards
April 13th, 2015
Starting today the company ProAct will mail new prescription discount cards to every resident in Broome County to help make their prescriptions more affordable.
Broome County Executive Debbie Preston announced that the cards will be mailed as part of a relaunch of the ProAct Prescription Discount Card Program.
The cards are being sent out as a reminder that every Broome County resident is eligible for the discount, Preston said in a release from the Broome County Executive's office.
Almost all local pharmacies are participating in the program and if residents do not receive the cards in the mail, they can get them at local pharmacies or the Broome County Health Department, 225 Front St., Binghamton, NY.
The discount card can save residents up to 20 percent on name brand medications and 70 percent on generic medications covered under the program. Residents do not need to do anything to enroll in the program. To receive the discount, they must present the card with the medication they would like to purchase.
The program launched in 2009 and has saved Broome County residents more than $7.7 million on medications, according to the release.
Residents can visit www.NYRxDiscountCard.com to check on participating pharmacies and learn more about the program.
ProAct is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kinny Drugs Inc., a health care company that currently owns 95 stores in Upstate New York and Vermont.
